Community programs for severely handicapped adults: An analysis

چکیده
During the last 10 years, day programs for severely handicapped adults have become a fami liar component of community services. This paper examines the current status of those pro grams, with particular reference to the vocational options provided to participants. Concerns are raised about the lack of work opportunities, disincentives to work, lack of federal coordin ation, and absence of entitlement. Strategies for effecting needed change are offered for pol icy makers, advocates, researchers, and public school personnel.
